The Brief

We’re proud to collaborate once again with the Malta Community Chest Fund on the highly anticipated The Ball of The August Moon at Verdala Palace. This year, our focus was on creating a timeless and elegant brand identity that fully captures the essence of the prestigious Renaissance-inspired venue.

Visual Strategy and Application

Moving away from the previous illustration-driven branding, we embraced a refined visual strategy, emphasising the historic and architectural significance of Verdala Palace. Our goal was to merge the rich history of the venue with a modern yet classic aesthetic.

Key components of the brand design include:

  • Logo Redesign: We revamped The Ball of The August Moon logo to reflect the grandeur of Renaissance architecture. The logo embodies timeless elegance, with shapes and lines inspired by the palace’s unique features.
  • Sophisticated Colour Palette: We developed a colour scheme rooted in the tones of Renaissance paintings, including luxurious hues of gold, deep reds, and royal blues. These colours were chosen to evoke a sense of opulence and tradition, perfectly aligning with the ball’s historical setting.
  • Typography Selection: Our brand identity employed three distinct fonts—Europa, Fleur, and Sloop—that together create a harmonious blend of elegance and modernity, emphasising the ball’s high-end nature.
  • Brand Applications: The branding was applied across various touch points, including promotional billboards, event tickets, coasters, and website banners. These elements ensured a cohesive, sophisticated brand experience throughout the event’s marketing materials and on-site visuals.

Photography Integration

We incorporated exquisite imagery of Verdala Palace’s stunning interiors into the branding, further strengthening the connection between the location and the event’s visual identity. The blend of photography and design captured the elegance and grandeur of the palace, making the event branding immersive and reflective of its prestigious setting.

Conclusion 

The Ball of The August Moon was a resounding success, with impressive attendance and generous donations for the Malta Community Chest Fund. Our collaboration not only enhanced the visual experience of this meaningful event but also ensured a seamless and sophisticated brand execution across all applications.
