Introduction

KSU Malta hosts a comedic theatrical show at the University of Malta each year. This show, organised, managed, and performed by over 150 dedicated University of Malta students, has become a highlight of the cultural calendar. For the second year running, we at Ponder & Pitch were honoured to be entrusted with developing the brand identity for the 2024 KSU Student Fest, which this time will feature a distinctive twist on the classic Disney movie ‘Toy Story.’


The Solution


Our primary objective was to craft a playful brand identity that resonated with the nostalgic charm of the Disney classic Toy Story while seamlessly incorporating the unique aspects of Maltese culture featured in the performance. This challenge was met through a collaborative team effort involving multiple brainstorming sessions to fully grasp and identify the key elements of the show’s identity.


Visuals and Implementation


The visual strategy for Toy Storey centred on creating custom illustrations that captured the playful and adventurous spirit of Toy Story, enriched with Maltese cultural elements. The branding was designed to be vibrant and engaging, appealing to both the students involved in the production and the wider audience.

Every detail, from the character designs to the promotional materials, was carefully crafted to ensure a cohesive and captivating brand identity. The characters Bużż and Kajboj Wudy, along with other brand assets, were integrated into the artwork in a way that highlighted their unique personalities and the cultural twist they brought to the story.


Conclusion


The branding of Toy Storey for the 2024 KSU Student Fest celebrates creativity and cultural fusion. At Ponder & Pitch, we are proud to have contributed to this project.
